If there is discouragement in going public other people may have second feelings in agreement of going on board and work in the colonies ..
Hmm too bad that they were discouraged, you could ask yourself why??

The situation is not simple. We have an opportunity to save our civilization. The personal risks are lower than the risk of missing the opportunity. I do believe the aliens are positive and this is best we got. We can either talk to them or be picky.
