Sato describes problem with a close friend who thinks we are a negative sect.
I went through that few times already. My close relatives and friends are reacting negatively.
Some ignore the whole thing, but some take it for real, study what we do and claim that we are either nuts or possessed by negative entities.
I was advised by Lakesh to disregard the whole concern, to avoid pushing our knowledge upon them. Lakesh suggested that the best strategy is to give these people what is good for them, give them what they want – to demonstrate to them that we can be still practical and successful (which is the hardest thing). I am pressed by close relatives to look for a job, which I know would be a mistake. Since I will likely hate any job and will lose it quickly anyway. I wish to be doing things which are important and do that in a way I see fit.
Sorry my advice is contradictory, but this is a constructive paradox. Take it as such.
Please listen to Bashar – he frequently answers these questions and his answers are often similar to Lakesh’s.

I understand what you write Max,
I dealt with this kind of negativity in my family and random people due to being involved in a new religion for many years, so I would be unfazed by anyone’s opinion about this group. My best strategy was to say nothing about anything unless they asked and to let them see with time, that I was quite “in my right mind.”
Besides, this isn’t a lifestyle and the main encouragement is to become loving enlightened people who help others want the same through our example.
When the ___ hits the fan, you and those who can be prepared in heart and mind, will be the ones “other people” turn to. That is comforting. 🙂
